What is Medical Transcription?
Medical transcription (MT) is an allied healthcare profession which encompasses the process of transcription or converting voice-recorded electronic medical reports as dictated by doctors and other healthcare professionals into text format.
Every time a patient visits the hospital, emergency room or is admitted or has an investigation done, there is patient interaction with a physician or other medical professional. Physician dictates the patient information to a Dictaphone that is recorded as a digital voice file. This voice file is transferred through internet to secure web servers, then to be transferred into medical transcriptionsists who listens recorded speech and transcribe them using PC, net, foot pedal, dictionaries, and other reference materials and sends them back to client or editors for quality assurance.
